Ingrid U. Baillod, 71, of Attica, and Richard Paul Kroninger, 78, and his wife Lucille Martha Kroninger, 76, both of Oxford, died Friday afternoon from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Lake Pleasant Road in Attica Township.

Baillod was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting and knitting. She attended both Attica United Methodist Church and Elba United Methodist Church. Family said she enjoyed making baked goods and gifts and delivering them to church shut-ins.

She was born Ingrid Ursula Bartz in Berlin Germany, grew up and graduated from high school in Germany. She became a United States citizen in 1998. She married Orville Baillod in 1957, who proceeded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by son David Baillod of Harrison Township, son Gordon Baillod and wife JudeAnn of Emmett, daughter Susan Thomas and husband Joel of Columbiaville, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Attica United Methodist Church.

Richard and Lucille Kroninger were long time residents of Oxford and married for 56 years. Richard was well known in Lapeer County as the vice president of KM International on Bernie Kohler Drive in North Branch, a family owned business.

"He was a very personable person, and very nice," said North Branch Village Clerk Betty Kennedy. "We all feel bad about what happened."

Richard was a veteran of the US Army who served during the Korean War. He attended Muhlenberg College and General Motors Institute and worked for General Motors and IBM. He is also the owner and founder of the Auburn Hills Community News.

Lucille retired from Oakland County as an audio technician. Together they owned Happy Hour Party Store.

The couple is survived by children Richard P. Kroninger II and wife Deborah, Timothy K. Kroninger and wife Susan, Kristina K. Macey, and husband Ronald, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Private funeral services are planned.

The fatal crash occurred when the northbound 2005 Cadillac STS, driven by Richard Kroninger, crossed the center line and collided with the southbound 1999 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Baillod. Dina Tallis, 33, and her daughter Ashlee Tallis, 7, of Lum, received minor injuries in the accident that occurred about one-half mile north of Imlay City Road when her 2007 Hyundai struck the Kroninger Cadillac.

The accident remained under investigation at press time. Use of alcohol has been ruled out as a factor, said McGreevy.
