Marlette Roofing passed to another generation of the Patrick family



MARLETTE -- The torch has been passed between two generations at Marlette Roofing and Sheet Metal Co.

The 62-year-old business is now being run by Al and Ashley Patrick who bought it his from father and mother, Sam and Barbara Patrick on May 15. He became president of the company that day and his dad officially retired.

The younger Patrick graduated from Marlette High School in 1993 and Western Kentucky University in 1998.

He sold copiers in Nashville, Tenn. until he moved back to the area in 2003 and began buying the family business.

Marlette Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. was founded by Max Patrick in 1946 and sold to Sam in 1980. Marlette Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. installs roofs on small and large commercial and industrial buildings in the Thumb and beyond.

Some of the projects include Grupo Antolin-Marlette, Marlette Community Schools, Marlette Regional Hospital, Durakon Industries in Lapeer, North Branch Schools, Laker Schools, Port Huron Schools, Flint Beecher Schools, Clio Schools, Walbro-Caro, many new Walgreen Pharmacy Stores, Harbor Beach Schools, and Auto Value-Marlette.

Marlette Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. has had many long-time employees who have helped sustain the success including Don Forbes with over 40 years, Bill Stover with over 30 years, Office Manager Debi Webster with 20 years, and current Roofing Operations Manager Chris Forbes with over 20 years.
