In all, the club team from Lapeer won six matches, losing just two while winning 14 games and losing six during the course of the tournament. Once the team made it into the championship bracket, they turned it into overdrive, winning all three matches and six games while defeating their opponents by an average of nine points per game.

During the tournament, the A's defeated teams from Howell, Grand Blanc and Macomb Township on their way to winning the state championship.

The Lapeer Athletic Club U-14 volleyball team is comprised of incoming eighth and ninth graders from the Lapeer Area. Team members are: Marne Fettig, Hannah Gauthier, Madison Kobylik, Brittany Morrell, Kayla Morrell, Alexis Nichols, Meaghan Saelens, Justice Schihl, Lauren Tillery, and Shelby Wagner. The team is coached by Robin Wagner and Emily Schihl. Although the team had rostered as many as 11 players during the course of the regular season, only seven were able to attend the state tournament.

The Lapeer Athletic Club was founded just this year to provide travel sports opportunities for local youth athletes. The club is looking to expand its AAU Volleyball program in the winter of 2009 by adding teams and coaches. The club is looking for new coaches prior to tryouts in January 2009. They will also be looking for additional players at the U-12, 14, 15, and 17 levels. If you are an experienced volleyball player or coach and want to take your game to the next level, please contact Neal Kobylik at 810-252-9550 or email at nealkobylik@hotmail.com
