East's Mike Carson allowed just four hits and one earned run as the Eagle defense committed five errors. Carson struck out eight hitters and walked just two. Carson and Sam Achtabowski both had a double, but neither player was able to cross homeplate in the opener.

Oxford scored twice in the first inning in Game 2 and then added one in the second and three in the third to get the 6-1 win over the Eagles. Greg Moriarty took the loss for East, pitching four innings while striking out four. Carson had an RBI double and Ronnie Early added another hit, having also recording one in the first game as well for Lapeer East (13-8, 5-3 FML).

Russell Luxton finished with five hits on the day for Oxford (8-2 FML) and James McClain had three as the Wildcats remained atop the Flint Metro League standings with the twinbill sweep.

Around the horn Goodrich 6-13, Lake Fenton 0-3: In Goodrich, Jake Bourassa pitched the first Martian no-hitter since 2003 as he helped his team to the opening game win over the Blue Devils on Thursday. Bourassa came just one hitter away from pitching the first perfect game in school history until the second batter in the top of the seventh drew a walk to spoil Bourassa's bid for perfection. Bourassa finished facing just 22 batters and recorded 12 strikeouts along the way.
"In about the fifth inning, I though it was a possibility," Goodrich coach Bob Foreback said of Bourassa's bid for the no-hitter. "But it is a very difficult thing to do. That's what makes a perfect game so special.
"Jake was brilliant (on the mound)."
Caleb Jones picked up the win in Game 2 to help make the sweep complete. Jones struck out seven and was also 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Brett Johnson added two hits as Goodrich (22-3, 11-1 GAC) now stands alone in first place after Montrose and Mt. Morris split a doubleheader.

Imlay City 11, Almont 0: In Almont, Mark Owen Jr. threw a one-hit shutout as the Spartans remained undefeated in the Blue Water Area Conference standings at 9-0 (11-1 overall). The shutout for Owen was his third of the year while his ERA is still 0.00.
Eric Harbin and Devon Weigers led the Spartan offense with three hits each. Harbin had two RBIs and scored twice while Weigers scored two runs and had three RBIs. Justin Pitt added two hits while Ryan Pitt had a hit and two RBIs.
Chris Crieger had the lone hit for Almont.

Brandon 2-4, Fenton 10-3: At Fenton, the Blackhawks dropped the first game against the Tigers on Thursday before coming back to win in the nightcap. Brandon Goffer scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for Brandon (11-8, 5-3 FML).
LakeVille 5-0, Durand 4-10: In Otisville, the Falcons' Ty Griswold threw a two-hitter in Game 1 for LakeVille (12-14, 6-7 GAC) as his team split a pair with the Railroaders on Thursday.

Brown City 7-3, Mayville 5-2: In Mayville, the Green Devils moved into the lead in the Greater Thumb East conference with a twinbill sweep over the Wildcats on Thursday. In the opener, Andre Sanson took the mound for Brown City (15-4, 8-1 GTE) and the senior fanned four and scattered seven hits over seven innings.
"Andre asked for the start on Wednesday," Brown City coach Tom Long said. "I felt like he was bound and determined to do all he could out there.
"Andre has my utmost confidence and proved it with another quality pitching performance."
Justin Holsworth led the Brown City offense in the opener, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Ed Rayba added two hits and an RBI and Doug Martus and Aaron Bullock each had two hits and two RBIs in the Game 1 win.
Rayba picked up the win in Game 2, striking out five while walking five over seven innings. Rayba also delivered the game-winning RBI on a solo homerun in the fifth inning.
