Colleen Cross made 18 saves in goal for North Branch (6-5-2). Jessica Curtis and Maggie Bridges led the defense in keeping the No. 7 state-ranked (Division 4) from winning the game.
"We kept them from taking control of the game," North Branch coach Mark Krugielski said. "We limited their quality scoring opportunities.
"Overall, it was a great effort from the North Branch team."
Dryden 9, New Life Christian 1
At Dryden, the Cardinals scored early and often in earning the mercy win over New Life on Friday.
Maddy Couch and Brittany Lewis each scored three goals for Dryden (5-1-0). Liz Sturza and Shelby Couch both scored twice and Abby Warner had three saves in net for the Cardinals.
"The girls are playing very well together," Dryden coach Jeffrey Sturza said. "They are making crosses on the net as well as accurate passes from the midfield to forward positions.
"And our defense is keeping the ball from entering our zone, which is resulting in very few opportunities on our net."
Dryden 2, Cros-Lex 0: At Dryden, the Cardinals defeated the Pioneers in a make up game on Thursday.
Maddy Couch scored the first goal on an assist from Brittany Lewis. Lewis scored the second goal unassisted. Abby Warner made 10 saves in net, marking the third game in a row that she had not given up a goal to an opponent.
