Track: North Branch girls sweep dual



The North Branch girls track and field team swept a double dual last Wednesday, defeating Birch Run by a score of 110-27 and Vassar by a total of 74-63.

"The girls ran great," North Branch coach Jason Castle said. "They beat a very tough Vassar team. Vassar was undefeated in the league.

"It was another great team effort."

North Branch's Teal Washington led the way in the Broncos' victory. Washington won first place in three individual events and took part in a first place relay team for the Broncos. Washington won the 400 meter dash with a career-best time of 1:01.48. She also took top honors in the 100 meter dash (13.19) and the 200 meter dash (27.40). Washington then teamed up with Taylor Kaiser, Sasha Ferrett and Jordan Fish to run a season-best time of 4:29.54 in winning the 1600 meter relay.

North Branch's Meghan Petitpren also a big day. Petitpren won the 1600 (5:51.62) and the 3200 (13:03.17) meter runs and was a part of the 3200 meter relay winning team. Petitpren teamed with Ellen Martin, Danika Racknor and Sam Griffin for a time of 11:00.23.

The relay team of Kaiser, Catherine Brusie, Shannon Cobb and Jerica Tedford won both the 800 meter relay (1:57.23) and 400 meter relay (55.56).

Elisabeth Marqueso and Sasha Ferrett tied for top honors in the pole vault with a height of 8-0.
