Dryden School Superintendent Tom Goulette said if the bond is approved it would not increase the current bond millage rate of 2.24 mills and would not extend the length of the current bond debt.

Goulette said the bond makes sense through refinancing the current bond, the district can renew technology, keep a safe bus fleet, and build a safe parking lot for Dryden Elementary. He added the district would be able to improve a number of classrooms in a cost-effective manner.

Board President Glenn Hojnacki said he felt the bond issue is a realistic proposal to address district needs. He added all of the district's technology is at least five years old. Hojnacki added the district isn't asking taxpayers for extras through the bond issue. Instead, it was asking for need.

The new bond would address providing $400,000 to make improvements for district technology, including hardware.

The bond would also finance a new permanent parking lot at the elementary with safe in and out lanes. It would also include a new short-term parking area near the office at the front of the building.

Financing from the bond would allow Dryden High School to install water treatment equipment to meet new federal standards for arsenic in public drinking water.

The bond would allow the district to continue with improvements to outdoor athletic fields and to parking areas at the high school. The development includes a new restroom and concession building. It also provides a small restroom building and playground area at Cardinal Field.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
