East (2-0-1, 1-0 Flint Metro League) scored midway through the first half to take the one-goal lead and held off a late charge by the Dragons to get the win. Lapeer East's Bree DeMeyere scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from Kelsey Hizelberger right around the 20:00 mark of the first half. East goalkeeper stopped all three shots she faced to earn her third shutout of the young season.
Thursday's results Lapeer West 5, Carmen-Ainsworth 1: In Flint Township, Lapeer West improved to 4-1-1 (1-0-0 FML) with the win over the Cavaliers on Thursday. The Panthers scored four goals in the first half to blow the game wide open. Katie Atwood got the West offense going, knocking the ball into the net within the first three minutes of the game. Dani Schoenherr then scored the next three goals for West, all within the first twenty minutes of the game to give her team the 4-0 lead at the half. "We got off to a quick start today," West coach Mark Pittenger said. "We had 4 goals on the scoreboard within 25 minutes. "Today, we were a first half team." Stephanie Byers chipped in with a goal in the second half to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead. Lindsay Thams, Kurstin Dowdall, Erin Lozen, and Lauren Chrzanowski had the assists. West goalkeepers Ana Tkach and Lauren Weeks combined for 3 saves in the net. Carman-Ainsworth's (0-5-0, 0-3-0) Brittany Tenis scored on a penalty kick (hand ball in the box).
Dryden 4, Marlette 0: At Dryden, the Lady Cardinals moved their overall record to 2-1 with the shutout win over the Red Raiders on Thursday. Dryden's Maddy Couch scored first for her team to give them the early lead. Lindsay Williamson knocked in goal number two for the Cards. Brittany Lewis scored two goals for Dryden, the third and fourth of the game to secure the win. Dryden's goalkeeper Abby Warners had four saves on the net. "My girls played a strong game," Dryden coach Jeff Sturza said. "They positioned themselves to remain goal-side on Marlette's net. "Good passing and getting to the ball first allowed them to come up ahead in the end."
Lake Fenton 4, LakeVille 0: At Otisville, Lake Fenton remained undefeated with the shutout win over the Falcons on Thursday. With the loss, LakeVille fell to 1-3 (1-1 GAC).
Goodrich 8, Mt. Morris 0: At Goodrich, the Martians scored seven times in the first half to the put the game on ice. For Goodrich (1-3, 1-2 GAC), Matilda Sydvart scored four goals, Jolynn Zimhelt, Lindsay Bergquist, Leah Ross and Ashley Moorehead each scored one goal apiece. Angie Smallman recorded the shutout for the Martians.
Grand Blanc 2, Davison 0: At Grand Blanc, Alex Lord and Kristen Steffes each scored one goal and Morgan Waier made four saves for the Bobcats (4-1-1, 2-1 Big Nine).
Oxford 2, Holly 1: At Oxford, Wildcats' freshman Beth Downs scored a goal five minutes into the second half to give her team the one-goal victory over the Bronchos. Alex Johnson scored the other goal for Oxford.
Wednesday's results Lapeer West 2, Clio 0: At Clio, the Panthers scored twice in the second half to earn the win over the Mustangs in Flint Metro League soccer action from Wednesday. Erin Lozen and Kaitlyn Dowdall scored a goal apiece to pace the Lady Panthers. West goalkeepers Ana Tkach and Lauren Weeks combined for 9 saves and the shutout. "The girls were mentally and physically prepared to play 80 minutes today," West coach Mark Pittenger said. "Although we did not play our best half of soccer in the first frame, we did play with more effort than recent first half performances and we were well-prepared for our opponent."
Linden 4, Brandon 1: At Linden, Molly Bellairs and Kat Fiebernitz each scored two goals to lead the Eagles past the Blackhawks. Andrea Roberts scored the lone goal for Brandon.
Imlay City 2, Algonac 1 (OT): At Imlay City, the Spartans' Beth Caldwell scored at the 7:42 mark in overtime to give her team the victory over the Muskrats on Wednesday. Caldwell took the pass from Andrea Karlson, then buried the ball into the back of the net for the win. Brynn Bertram opened the scoring for Imlay City just a minute into the game when she scored on an assist from Caldwell to give her team the 1-0 lead. Algonac scored near the midway point of the second period to tie the game, which is how it would remain until Caldwell's goal in overtime.
North Branch 2, Garber 0: At North Branch, the Broncos' Lauren Brooks scored twice to lead her team to the Tri-Valley East victory over the Dukes on Wednesday. Jessica Curtis and Sierra Voight had the assists. Goalkeeper Colleen Cross stopped all seven Garber shots to pick up her first shutout of the year for North Branch (2-2-0, 1-1-0 TVE).
Tuesday's results Algonac 6, Capac 0: At Capac, the Chiefs' Emily Konig made 12 saves in net for the hometeam but the Muskrats were too much Capac, handing them the BWAC loss on Tuesday. Algonac scored twice in the first half and four times in the second to get the win.
Durand 3, LakeVille 1: At Otisville, LakeVille's Shelby Wernette scored the lone goal for the Falcons against Durandy, as the Railroaders handed LakeVille a Genesee Area Conference loss. Wernette's goal cut into the lead for LakeVille (2-4, 2-1), but they would get no closer, losing just the first time in league play.
