That's when more than one couple is expected to go to the chapel to once again tie the knot. At the church's 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. services that Sunday will be a massive marriage rededication ceremony for married couples who attend the church regularly and for married couples who attend for the first time.

Church officials said any married couples who want to rededicate their marriage vows can attend, said the church's administrative assistant Shannon Pratt.

"This is the first time we're having this. It was the idea of our pastor, Roger Keur," Pratt said. "We hope to repair marriages. They say 50% of all marriages end in divorce. We're hoping for 100 couples and it's open to all religions."

Pratt said it's unusual to have so many couples exchanging vows at the same time, but that's what the church is aiming to have happen April 27 at what she figured should be an extraordinary event. "I'm believing it will be the biggest wedding," Keur said. "I've been preaching 'marriage-the impossible dream.' I define the fact it is possible. I'm guessing we'll have 200 couples. Out of the people rededicating we'll have some who have been married 50 years or longer."

Keur said he's been married 40 years to his wife, Jackie, and has been preaching about marriage and family this year. "We'll have the church set up for a wedding and we'll have certificates," he said. "We'll have a professional photographer taking pictures and we'll go through vows."

Keur said sadly divorce is rampant in our society and he and his congregation are doing what they can to change that. "We have the whole year as the year of the family. We have some families who are hurting," he said adding his church is trying to do marriage makeovers. "God is helping make it better. We hired a counselor to intermingle with couples and we have mentoring couples. We want the community to know what we're doing."

Sign-up for the rededication ceremony is today (Sunday) during services at Country Christian and April 20. Couples who wish to participate may also call the church to register at (810) 793-7417.
