Officials from the university have decided to consolidate the Lapeer campus of the private university with its Caro and Flint campuses.

Sue Squire, Davenport spokesperson, said the Lapeer's campus on John Conley Drive has a current enrollment of about 110 and is one of the school's smallest sites. It was deemed no longer as being operational. "The university weighed a bunch of factors and we must ensure operations are there."

A Davenport employee at the Lapeer campus declined comment on the consolidation Wednesday.

Squires said the school's goal is to ensure providing students with a quality education.

"We are committed to helping students to transition or with online help to help them complete their studies," Squires said.

Squire said the university wants to ensure efficient operations at all campuses.

The university has also decided to consolidate campuses in Bad Axe, Bay City and Romeo, also all this fall.

Davenport will have 15 sites open in Michigan, including a Livonia location this fall.

The private university's main campus is in Grand Rapids, with other sites around Michigan and northern Indiana. It offers an education in business, technology, and health care.
