On Monday night, at the Polar Palace, Lapeer West's Russell Quaine scored with 4:35 left in the second overtime to lift his team to the 3-2 Pre-Regional semi-final win over Oxford. With the win, Lapeer West moves on to the Pre-Regional Finals, which will be against rival Lapeer East on Wednesday, February 27 at the Polar Palace. Face-off is set for 7:55 p.m.

On Monday, West scored two second period goals to take a 2-1 lead as the game entered the final stanza. Oxford opened the scoring when Matt Zaun notched a goal with 13:42 left. The Wildcats Logan Faulk and Blan Marney assisted on the goal.

In the second, Eric Mann finally got the Panthers on the scoreboard when he scored on an unassisted goal on the Lapeer West power play at the 8:54 mark of the period. Seven minutes later, Jeremy Podgorski beat Oxford goalie Corey Hrischuk on an assist from Jeff Yateman and Shane Burrough to take the one-goal lead as the game entered the third period.

In the third, the Panthers were unable build on the momentum they had earned on the Mann goal. Oxford tied the game at 2-2 when Matt Reid netted a goal on assists from Matt Zaun and Elliot Wicker with 4:25 left in the game.

After a scoreless first overtime forced the teams to play a second, Quaine finally won the game for the Panthers with 4:25 left in the second overtime. Tony Delvecchio assisted on the game-winning goal.

For West (17-6-1, 11-2-1 FML) goalie Brandon Szczesny made 28 saves on 30 shots faced. Oxford goalie Hrischuk stopped 47 of the 50 shots he faced in the loss.

Lapeer East 6, Brandon 0: At the Polar Palace, Lapeer East ended Brandon's five-year run as Division 3 Regional champion with the victory over the Blackhawks on Monday night.

The Eagles' Steve Baker and Josh Clendenan scored two goals each for East (4-19-1). Kyle Parker and Josh Collins also scored. Justin Hanson had three assists for the Eagles. Robert Cavanaugh recorded the shutout in goal.

Fenton 4, Goodrich 2: At Iceland Arena, Fenton spotted the Martians a 2-0 lead before the Tigers stormed back to win the pre-regional game on Monday night.

Goodrich took the lead on first period power-play goals by Sam Brauer and Jake Brejnak, but Fenton answered with second period goals from Trevor Ladd, Austin Giesey and Keagan Thorpe. Giesey added an insurance goal in the third period.
