"Restitution was ordered in the amount of $5,024 to Lapeer County Bank & Trust, said Lapeer County assistant prosecutor Matthew Funke. "To my knowledge, none of the bank money was ever recovered." Higgins also ordered that Holt repay Lapeer County about $3,857 for his share of the extradition costs. Holt and Elizabeth A. Bruman, 24, both pleaded guilty to bank robbery in January. The pair, dubbed "Bonnie and Clyde" by the media, fled the state after the robbery and a police manhunt eventually led to the couple's location in October. They were living in a homeless shelter in Cheyenne, Wyo. The county paid for a company to return them to Michigan. Lapeer County Prosecutor Byron Konschuh handled their prosecution. The two were assigned court appointed attorneys; Bruman was represented by Mike Gildner, and Holt by Ann Sharkey. Before sentencing on Tuesday, Holt apologized to the bank, his family and the court. But Higgins told him he didn't believe him. "He said it was the same thing he said in Texas when he was being sentenced for his last felony," Funke said. "Judge Higgins told him he had no regard for the tellers or employees of the bank, or how they felt at the time. They didn't know whether or not the gun was real or fake at the time. It will affect them for life." Bruman is scheduled to be sentenced by Higgins at 10:30 a.m. March 10 on bank robbery charges.
