Lapeer West falls on late goal



Linden's John Magalski scored an unassisted goal with 7:47 left to play, handing Lapeer West a 3-2 loss in Flint Metro League hockey action on Saturday.

West (9-6-1, 5-2 FML) tied the game 2-2 on a Casey Cook third period goal with 9:19 left in the game. Assists on the goal were from Nate Robson and Jacob Podgorski.

After a scoreless first period, Linden scored twice early in the second. The Eagles' Mike Stone netted the first goal of the game at the 14:41 mark of the period, with an assist from Nick Poor.

The score remained that way until Linden's Darren Cross found the net with 9:48 lef in the period. The assist on the goal once again came from the stick of Poor.

West was held scoreless for one and a half periods before Robson slipped one past the Eagles' goalie at the 6:07 mark. The assist on the goal was from Brandon Lewis.

West goalie Brandon Szczesny made 22 saves on 25 shots. Linden goaltender Ryan Thomas faced 30 shots and saved 28 of them.
