The County Press is a three day a week broadsheet newspaper distributed on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. It is a County seat newspaper that enjoys a 67% readership penetration.

Lapeer County is located in Michigan's mid-thumb area and borders Oakland County. The county is basically a young, upscale, family-oriented area. The adult population is evenly split between males and females. Nearly half of the adults are between the ages of twenty-five and forty-four years old. The median age of adults in Lapeer County is forty years old. More than eight of ten Lapeer adults own their own homes. Nearly two-thirds of the households have three or more people living in them. Only about one of ten adults has not graduated from high school, while sixteen percent have college degrees. The adult population is evenly divided into white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, and those not employed. Non-employed adults are almost all retirees and homemakers. About half the adult population has lived in Lapeer County for ten or more years. One of five adults is a relative newcomer to Lapeer County, having lived in the county for two years or less. About half the adults have moved to Lapeer County. Almost all these adults have moved from other counties in Michigan, in particular Oakland, Macomb, and Genesee. There is a varied distribution of household incomes throughout the county with the median family income being about $38,000 per year.
